The William Thurston (sometimes referred to as Col. Wm) who lived in the Travelers Rest area, Greenville SC in the late 1700's and early 1800's helped found the Reedy River Baptist Church and he was listed as the fourth male member of the church. He married Rebecca ?Pines who is buried there.
My ancestor, John Bartlett THURSTON was born Dec 1830 and is buried at this same church. He died May 1906 (or May 1905). He lived mostly in Greenville, except in his old age after he remarried. Some of the family may have lived in Rutherford Co., NC for a short time, where one son and grandson was born (per death their certificates).
Need to find parents of John Bart and how he connects to the William Thruston family.
Our "John Bart" Thurston married Wyzetta PRUITT who was from Pruitt Mt., SC. He was listed as Thruston on gravermarker in Past & Presence 1976 book. This gravemarker disappeared and a new one was erected last year. He was listed on one census as Barton Thurston.
